We call a television a “TV” then why don’t we call a telephone a “TP”?

because tp could probably mean teleport… or teleprompter… hmmm…

we call tuberculosis “TB”, why can’t we… etc, etc…

hey, btw, we call toilet paper “TP” at home. so we can’t use that for telephone anymore, e.g., “chief, kindly pick up the TP, will you.” we’d get confused.
