No justice to Cebuanas

The first time I saw this site, the words haven for pokpoks was the first thing to come to mind.  Funny but then I imagined some poor, fat , old and digusting white trash saying to himself in a southern in-bred hillbilly accent, "this'll be like shooting ducks in a barrel."  I also thought that these must be some really hapless and desperate women to advertise themselves in what seems to be nothing more than a virtual watering hole for fornicating foreign men.

 

I actually have nothing against dating sites per se but this one is just undignified.  And it really does not give any justice at all to Cebuanas. 

 

 

I'm sure that some foreigner reading this might take offense or be confused why there's a problem with a site like this.  Well, it's a socio-cultural thing boy-o.

P.S.  Well, will you look at that.  The google ad on my multiply blog is Cebuanas.com. Ironically, on the exact same page where this post is publised.

Man, I’m cebuana and that site pisses me off bigtime! I mean, damn, why do I see a 50 yr old woman posting her photos looking for a partner in life? And most ladies who posted their profiles are not even from CEBU! I know I’m stereotyping the whole thing, but the fact is, it’s true. Most women who posted their profiles think that if they marry a foreigner their life will be good financially and all… ‘tang inang prinsipyo at pagiisip yan! Sorry can’t help but vent.

Guys all people have different perceptions in life. Not all people are like you that is narrow-minded and cant even think of the positive side of whats gonna happen. Don’t you think that those dating site are making ways to help our Filipina girls have a good life here and abroad? If you do not want to be associated with foreigners, then stay away from it. Other girls see it as something that will give them good life, and some foreigners like Cebuanas. Most dating sites promote Filipinas in their websites. Have you heard of online advertising? Well thats most likely what they’re doing.

A message for Tessa :) Hi I am a cebuana too and I ‘d like to know why are you singling out cebuanas.com. Are you a competitor or what? Or would you like it mean that we really is a good dating site that’s why you join and become a cebuanas.com member? Or your search for a dating site directs you to cebuanas.com only which for us at cebuanas is really very good indication that our marketing campaign is working just fine.

On the other hand, why are you searching for a dating site? In fact you even joined. Did we in anyway force you to join? Membership to our site is voluntary and your acceptance to our site Terms and Condition of Use signifies your agreement to be bound by it.

Ritchela, ok fine, but you get what you bargained for. Don’t let me hear any of these girls complain the least bit about being manhandled, mistreated or basically being regarded as a mail-order bride or a prostitute. I mean, personally, if you’ve thought about all the consequences, you’re ready and you accept it, then I have no issues with any girl being a prostitute. But, I don’t think I’ve ever seen or heard anybody actually want to be like that so, I agree with your philosophy to just let people live the lives they want but, in the end, don’t let me hear you complain about it.

Ema, it was pretty clear what this “tessa” was trying to say and she pretty much didn’t like the site. I don’t know what you’re trying to get at with all these questions.

you got me checked the site, read the contents etc.. i don’t see any offensive words whatsoever.. so thought its just how you interpret the words phrases etc..
but then i see they get a lot of new members… that means it is really not that offensive as you thought it is…

we can’t hide the fact that there are lots of women Filipinas in particular, that includes Cebuanas, who want to meet or marry foreign men for different purposes like for instance get married with a foreign men and have beautiful kids, have a better social standing, live abroad or travel and others just simply wanna scam.. well, everyone thinks differently and lives differently… so can’t blame them if this is how they wanna reach their goals…
coz of so many women having this what i would call WANT(i don’t say its a need since one can choose) there’s been a lot of medium created, so Filipinas would realize this want like Mail Order Bride, Dating Sites etc. from old fashion way[snail mail etc.] to using modern technology[phone,cellphone,internet ect.].
and on the internet side, coz this has been the issue and the most popular medium… lots of Dating Sites had been created everypart of the world with different version, different strategies to gain members, different services, each site is unique so to generalize…

“get married with a foreign men and have beautiful kids, have a better social standing, live abroad or travel and others just simply wanna scam” - all these reasons you’ve stated refer to a very extrinsic and materialistic things, which i guess really isn’t a problem. i mean, for their sake, if that’s what they want, then fine. however, if the guy they’re marrying only wants some sex slave who can also do dishes on the side, they shouldn’t and can’t complain because they just got what they bargained for. if the guy just suddenly loses interest, which im sure happens all the time, then he could very well just dump the girl for another mail order bride. and again, they can’t complain because that is what they bargained for.

Iam retired usarmy and married to a Cebuana for the past 17 years,I love my wife veymuch and have help her family with no strings attached,why do you hatew forieng men so much.At least whe filipinos come to the us,they dont have to pay more for hotels whe I have gone to Cebu as an American citizen I pay way more than a pinoy,why the double standart,dont say that we have more than you Iearned my retiment with blood sweat and tears serving my country ,tell me why.
